Elie Saab Wedding Dresses 2011

Born in 1964 in Beirut, Lebanese designer Elie Saab was self-trained. He started sewing as a child and knew that one day he would make a living out of it. In 1982, Saab launched his Beirut-based fashion label when he was 18 years old. His main workshop is in Lebanon, a country to which he remains deeply attached. He also has workshops in Milan and Paris.

Elie Saab became an overnight success after Halle Berry famously wore a burgundy Saab gown to pick up her Academy Award in 2002. Later she wore another gold dress by Saab, to the 2003 Oscars. In the same year, Saab showed his first haute couture collection in Paris on July. Today, Elie Saab is a leading name in haute couture in the fashion world and he also has workshops in Milan and Paris. His creations can be found all over the world.

Elie Saab is famous for his romantic, crystal-encrusted gowns. His ready-to-wear line, heralds the same feminine aesthetic as his couture dresses, with brightly colored silks, chiffons, pearl beading, and embroidered lace. With the Middle Eastern detailing and European sensibility, Elie Saab is in fresh demand by Hollywood stars and female members of royal families.
